Life's pleasures of living in Italy
Living in Italy in the Time of the Corona Virus
02 June 2020
While the world is in a virtual state of lockdown in many places, and travelling freely seems to be a thing of the past, I thought you might be interested in how we are living here in Polinago, Italy at this time. This is our experience with this unseen enemy which seems in one fell swoop to have brought this wonderful country to a stand-still. I hasten to add that I can only speak from my perspective of life in a small town, albeit one sitting in what is considered the Red Zone of the epidemic. . . .

Personal Update on the Corona Virus in Italy
25 March 2020
The past week has been quite a rollercoaster ride for many of us living in Italy with ever increasing numbers of people testing positive for Covid 19, along with deaths reaching staggering numbers each day. The stark reality of this was demonstrated in a photo of a long line of Italian Army trucks filled with coffins departing from Bergamo to the Modena crematorium, approximately 2.5 hours away. . . .

Celebrating in Small Town Italy
27 February 2020
This year it will be nine years since we moved to Polinago, Italy with all our earthly possessions in one 40-foot, high top container plus half a 20-foot container. Our small dog Marty was air-freighted in large container. We were full of excitement for the future with images of what living full-time in Italy would be like. . . .

Why Polinago?
4 December 2019
Today as we strolled by the fast running stream towards the still working flour mill in the small fraction of Gombola, which is part of the Territory of Polinago I pondered the question we are asked so frequently, “why are you living in Polinago?”. . . .

More about Truffles and Ricotta - What's There Not to Like?
24 June 2019
As we explore and learn more about the world of truffles, we are of course doing a number of taste tests along the way. Our PP (Prospective Purchaser) was interested in starting a truffle farm on our land and arranged to have soil tests done to assess its suitability for growing truffles. . . .

A New Discovery
14 March 2019
After living in Polinago for almost eight years, there still remain new discoveries to be made. For a small town I never cease to be amazed with the number of different things which one doesn't necessarily know about, and certainly aren't widely advertised.
